Dogs at big bear lake, ca

Finally escaping the city and heading to Big Bear last weekend! (San Bernardino Mountains,6,752 ft elevation). This was our first real nature trip since moving to SoCal, and Big Bear did not disappoint—crisp air, towering trees, and that fresh mountain vibe. Winding roads, breathtaking views, and Vader acting like he was on the greatest road trip of his life.

He switched between staring out the window in awe and attempting to co-pilot (denied). The lake looked incredible against the snowy backdrop. The trails were buried in snow, so we stuck to the paved paths, giving the dogs plenty of safe space to explore. Lots of sniffing, tail-wagging, and happy little adventure vibes.

These ancient, twisting trees made the landscape feel almost otherworldly. Vader, ever the explorer, had to personally inspect every single one like a true forest investigator.

After an action-packed day, Vader passed out in the backseat, covered in little bits of snow and mud. The perfect ending to an amazing first real SoCal nature trip—fresh air, adventure, and peak dog shenanigans. Definitely a trip worth repeating!
