I learned photography on the streets of Chicago, chasing skylines, el tracks, neon and the people who bring a city to life. Portland isn’t that kind of city, so when I moved there I followed the trail out of town and naturally fell into landscape photography.

Over the last few decades I’ve hiked thousands of miles across the country, almost always with a dog beside me. Roscoe, my red heeler mix, kept pace on climbs of thousands of feet and once backpacked 60 miles over four days through the Three Sisters Wilderness. These days I’m in Southern California, exploring the Inland Empire, Orange County and LA with Vader, my black mini poodle.

Chicago, Portland, a few deserts and a lot of trail miles later, the dog still picks the route. I just bring the camera. Vader and I are still adding to the map one trailhead at a time, so new worlds and Quest Log entries are on the way.
